Our story begins…

Our story opens in 2023 in an east coast city where a mysterious beast has hunted for the better part of a decade.

Background

Following in the tradition of classic horror tales like An American Werewolf in London, Ginger Snaps, and The Howling, Bitemark is our take on werewolf lore. Although treated like a curse by some, lycanthropy is a superpower—a means to reinvent the identity of our protagonist through bestial strength and instilling fear at just a glance of the furry mutated form. This blood-shedding power is tempting to a timid office drone like the protagonist, Miki, who is trampled upon by her A-Type coworkers.

The Story

Miki must stand up for herself when she has withstood enough of her malicious coworkers taking advantage of her. A healing retreat with her best friend, Ana, instead brings Miki more trouble when Ana reveals a monstrous path to revenge that involves a particular carnivorous diet that she’s not sure she’ll be able to stomach.

What is Gun Street Girl About?

Our story opens on the streets of London. Magic is real, although most people don’t have the natural talents to do it. Monsters are real, and they occasionally live and interact with regular humans, although they try to keep a low profile because of their problematic reputations. In this world, the independent problem-solvers of problems involving magic or monsters are street magicians… and their bodyguards, known as guns.

When Eddie Caution, a heavyset magician and supernatural investigator, met tough-girl Liz Pendragon while she was defending her girlfriend from the roving hands of some relations of the local mob, he offered her a job as his “gun” (bodyguard/muscle), and she accepted, having wanted all her life for there to be a way to encounter magic on a regular basis. The two of them investigate ghosts, rescue those kidnapped by monsters, try to stay out of trouble (often difficult), and generally enjoy life.

About Hungry Ghosts:

Lafcadio Hearn was a Victorian-era European writer who, in his book KWAIDAN: STORIES AND STUDIES OF STRANGE THINGS (the most famous of his collections of Japanese legends and ghost stories), told a story of Isogai Heidazaemon Taketsura, a samurai who renounced his old life and became a wandering priest.

An adept warrior, Taketsura was more than a match for various supernatural threats such as goblins with detachable flying heads.
